{"id":8334,"date":"2018-09-24T13:15:48","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T11:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cocoon.eu\/?post_type=project&#038;p=8334"},"modified":"2025-02-27T16:49:06","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T15:49:06","slug":"iter","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.cocoon.eu\/en\/project\/iter\/","title":{"rendered":"ITER"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<div>ITER (&#8220;The Way&#8221; in Latin) is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In southern France, 35 nations are collaborating to build the world&#8217;s largest tokamak, a magnetic fusion device that has been designed to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and\u00a0stars.<\/p>\n<p>The experimental campaign that will be carried out at ITER is crucial to advancing fusion science and preparing the way for the fusion power plants of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Cocoon has been commissioned to preserve the Cryostats: two cylinders of the tokamak, the largest nuclear fusion device on earth.
