A major characteristic of the museum is the impressive metallic dome under which various aircrafts were displayed. In 2018 this dome will receive a new purpose, and will function as a meeting and conference location.

The immense dome, with a diameter of 60 meters and a height of 23 meters, will be rebuilt this spring. The construction consists of loose fitting pie shaped tips, whose points are linked together by means of coupling pieces. The result is a self-supporting roof without beams. So the question posed becomes, how do you re-assemble such a construction in a sustainable and aesthetic way? The solution is Cocoon’s seam- and gap sealant.

In the spring of 2018, the roof will be reassembled, to be able to act as a unique meeting location. However, the roof is in such an old state that the pie tips no longer connect seamlessly. During the reconstruction of the roof, a total of six kilometer seams must be sealed. And this is where Cocoon comes in.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.16″ background_image=”https://www.cocoon.eu/files/2018/05/unnamed-1.jpg” custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”2_3,1_3″ make_equal=”on” _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”0px|||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”]

Flexible, aesthetic and sustainable: the characteristics of Cocoon

Sealing a self-supporting roof requires a lot of expertise. The seam seal must meet the following requirements:
