High-quality mothballing for the LNG industry

Do you have a stock of LNG tanker spare parts that you want to conserve for a long time?

Are there parts that are too large and heavy to store in a hall?
Are they parts that are very sensitive to moisture or ozone?

Projects

High quality mothballing

We are involved in the preservation of strategic spare parts all over the world.
From Qatar, Thailand, Singapore, Korea and Japan to Europe.

Proven system

Rust prevention coating

By providing the large and/or heavy components with a second skin (Cocoon skin). This second skin (anti corrosion coating) must in some cases be kept at a distance by means of distance hoses.

In a storage hall we can seal the inside or the outside with the Cocoon system to create an airtight inner space.

We dry this “inner” space to 38% humidity or lower if the customer or manufacturer of the part requires it.

The dryer used has the great advantage that it also removes the ozone so that various plastics cannot “dry out”.

About Cocoon mothballing

Cocoon is able to keep large and very valuable parts in good condition during their economic life. We do this with our webbing technique where we provide large and or heavy parts with a second skin. We provide customised work for all objects that are subject to corrosion. Our work can be carried out anywhere and there are no restrictions in terms of size, scope or numbers.

Mothballing system for parts

Cocoon Mothballing System provides the objects to be preserved with a weatherproof, tough and seamless Cocoon ‘skin’ that hermetically seals against moisture and dust. Within this cocoon relative humidity is kept at 38-40%, which prevents formation of mould and corrosion.

Storage of parts in a hall

In a storage hall we can completely seal the inside or the outside with the Cocoon system so that an airtight inner space is created. We dry this inner space to 38% humidity or lower if required. The dryer has the great advantage that it also removes ozone so that various plastics do not dry out.

Available and accessible at any time

Materials protected in this way could be stored for a very long time, but are available for use and accessible for inspection at any time.

About Cocoon Holland B.V.

“We are a company located in Hoofddorp, a town nearby the airport, and we also have our dedicated storage facilities in Drachten, the north of The Netherlands where we store spare parts of LNG carriers”.

Alexander van der Zee, owner of Cocoon (since 2002), has established roots in the painting industry. His grandfather had a paint factory where his father also worked in and so became quite familiar with the production and application of paint-related products from a young age.

When the opportunity came to offer cocoon products, he seized that chance to further develop new applications for the technology.
